Things that went into an album
Trips and local news left a trail of paper: postcards, tickets, stamps, newspaper cuttings and boxes of colour slides. This category recreates four of them and lets you write your own words on each.
The newspaper uses a fictional masthead, so you can write any headline you like. The postcard fills the big letters of a place name with your photo. The scrapbook has an ink stamp for any city. None of these imitate a real publication or travel document.
Tips for the best result
Photos with a clear subject near the middle work in the postcard letters. For the newspaper, a photo with strong light and dark areas turns into a crisp halftone. Landscapes and group shots do well in the postcard, and snapshots with people in them feel at home in the scrapbook.
What each look does
Front page news. A halftone photo under your own headline on a fictional daily newspaper. Inspired by American small-town papers. It starts at 1947, and you can drag the slider or change the year to move it earlier or later.
Greetings postcard. Big block letters filled with your photo, an air-mail border and a stamp. Inspired by American roadside postcards. It starts at 1962, and you can drag the slider or change the year to move it earlier or later.
Travel scrapbook. A taped-in print beside a postage stamp, an ink stamp with your city and a train ticket. Inspired by European travel albums. It starts at 1963, and you can drag the slider or change the year to move it earlier or later.
Holiday slide. A colour slide in a cardboard mount with a pen note, ready for the projector. It starts at 1975, and you can drag the slider or change the year to move it earlier or later.
Tips for this theme
- Write a real headlineShort and punchy reads like a newspaper. Eight words or fewer fits on one line.
- Choose a short placeFour to ten letters fill the postcard letters best.
- Stamp your cityThe scrapbook ink stamp takes any place name, so write the one in your photo.
- Slides love colourThe holiday slide is warmest with sunsets, flowers and blue skies.

Questions
How do I make a newspaper front page with my photo?
Choose Front page news, add your photo and write your own headline, caption and date. The newspaper front page generator turns the photo into a halftone picture under a fictional masthead.
Is this a fake newspaper front page generator?
It is a fun, fictional newspaper front page for gifts, jokes and keepsakes. The masthead is made up and does not copy a real paper. Please do not use it to mislead anyone.
How do I make a vintage postcard from my photo?
Choose Greetings postcard and type a place name. The big block letters are filled with your photo, with an air-mail border and a stamp.
What is a scrapbook photo effect?
It shows your picture taped into a travel scrapbook beside a stamp, an ink mark and a ticket.
Is the newspaper a real paper?
No. The masthead is made up for this site, so no real publication is imitated. The headline and caption are yours to write.
How do I change the place on the postcard?
Choose the Greetings postcard look and edit the place name under Frame. Short names with 4 to 10 letters look best.
Do the scrapbook stamps copy a real passport?
No. The stamp is a decorative ink mark, and the page is a scrapbook, not an official document.
Can I make the front page for a different year?
Yes. Drag the slider or use the Year you were born box, and the date on the paper changes with it.
Can I use the pictures on social media?
Yes. The frames are drawn from scratch, and a small tag can be switched off before you download.
Will there be more travel looks?
That is the plan. Luggage labels, boarding cards and diner menus are on the wish list.
Does my photo leave my device?
No. Everything on this page runs in your browser, and your photo is never uploaded.
Can I change the year printed on the frame?
Yes. Use the Year you were born box, or drag the slider. Dates and captions follow the year you choose, unless you have typed your own text.
Which file formats can I use?
JPG, PNG and WebP work everywhere. HEIC opens in browsers that support it, such as Safari.
